Roblox is one of the most popular online platforms among children, with tens of millions of users—many between the ages of 5 and 13. It was marketed as a safe, creative space where children could play games and interact with friends. But a growing body of evidence reveals that Roblox has failed to implement adequate safeguards against child exploitation. Predators have used the platform to groom, exploit, and in some cases physically harm children. Reports of abuse have skyrocketed, and lawsuits are mounting against the company for its failure to protect its youngest and most vulnerable users.

How Children Are Being Harmed

The platform’s structure creates opportunities for adult users to interact with children in ways that are difficult to monitor. Predators use Roblox to identify and groom potential victims, then move conversations to external platforms like Discord where there is even less oversight. Documented harms include sexual grooming and exploitation, sextortion of minors, exposure to sexually explicit and violent content, facilitation of in-person contact between adult predators and children, and exploitation through in-game gambling mechanics.

Reports to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children related to Roblox increased from 675 in 2019 to more than 24,500 in 2024. At least 24 arrests in the United States since 2018 have involved adults using Roblox to target children. These are not isolated incidents—they represent systemic failures in the platform’s safety infrastructure.

Who Can File a Claim

Families of children who were subjected to exploitation, grooming, sexual abuse, sextortion, or exposure to harmful content through Roblox may be eligible to file claims. This includes children who were contacted by adult predators through the platform, minors who were exposed to sexually explicit or violent content, children who experienced psychological trauma from interactions on the platform, and families of children who were targeted for in-person abuse following contact initiated on Roblox.

Compensation Available

Claims may seek compensation for psychological and psychiatric treatment for the child, costs of therapy and long-term counseling, pain and suffering, emotional distress, lost educational opportunities, and punitive damages against the platform for failure to implement adequate safety measures. More than 100 cases are pending in a federal MDL consolidated in Northern California.
